Negev Wineries
With new modern technology and irrigation, we are now developing vineyards in the Desert! Only in Israel! However, even without modern advances, there are ancient ruins in the Negev that prove that vineyards were once planted in certain communities.
There are four wineries in the Negev and many vineyards, including exceptional vineyards in Sde Bokar, where Former Prime Minister David Ben Gurion is buried. The up and coming winery in the Desert is the Yatir Winery which is in partnership with the Carmel Winery. The topography of the Negev is extreme and hot with flash floods in the winter, but certain grapes do not need a lot of water, so the Negev is a perfect place to cultivate vineyards.
Other wineries in the desert include: La Terra Promessa Winery, Kadesh Barnea Winery, and Ben Shushan Winery.
