Golan Heights Winery Itineraries
The Golan Heights, also known as “Wine Country,” hosts the Northern most winery established in Israel, Odem Mountain Winery. The Golan Heights is the optimal grape-growing conditions to make high quality wine because the of her volcanic plateau rising to 1,200 meters above sea level which creates cool breezes, rich basaltic soil, and natural fresh water from the snow-capped Mount Hermon.
There is scientific evidence that proves the land of the Golan Heights has produced vineyards for over 800,000 years, however, it wasn’t until the 1970’s that Israel realized her potential for growing high-quality wines. In the early 1980’s the Golan Heights Winery was established under the viticulturist, Victor Schoenfeld, a graduate of University of California at Davis. Since then the Golan Heights Winery has led the field of wine making in Israel to succeed in producing International awarded delicious wines.
There are approximetly 10 wineries in the Golan Heights, some of them include: Pelter Winery, a family owned internationally awarded winery; Ein Nashut Winery, a community of artists and culinary enjoyment; Chateau Golan, one of the most prestige wineries in Israel; Bashan Winery, who produce organic wines.
